this website contributes on the forward-looking achievement of walter gropius and his collaborator adolf meyer, which was outstanding for its time, with the construction of the fagus werk in alfeld, 1911. as one of the first examples of architectural modernism, it has been listed as a historic monument since 1946. since june 2011, the entire factory site has been a unesco world heritage site.
